123.ie National U20-U23 Indoor Championships, TUS International Arena Athlone
CIARA Sheehy of Emerald AC took Gold in the U23 Shot Put with a PB throw of 14.40m at the 123.ie National U20-U23 Indoor Championships, TUS International Arena Athlone with Laura Frawley from Limerick, now of Nenagh Olympic third in 10.34m.
Leagh Moloney (Dooneen) was an excellent second (11.27) in the U20 Triple Jump having been the early leader. She followed that up within another Silver (5.39) from quite a large field in the Long Jump.
Roisin Gavan, of Limerick AC, was 3rd in her U20 heat 200m while Emerald’s Orla O’Shaughnessy was also 3rd in her U20 200m heat in 26.73 secs.
Parkrun
Times at UL included Niall Harris 19:05, Darren Bridges 19:45, Mark Whelan 20:37, Maria Maher 20:42 (PB), Marie Keane 25:45 and Claire Knight 25:51, at the Newcastle West Demesne, Mike Guiney 24:53, John Fitzgerald 26:25.
In Mungret Mike Griffin was 1st in 19:36, while Sheila Clavin ran her 155th Parkrun in 24:58.

Tara Carr is the new Chairperson of West Limerick AC, the first female to occupy this role in the 45-year history of the club. She will be assisted by Mike Sheehy in the role with Tracy Broderick as PRO.

The Munster U20, U23 Senior and Masters T&F Championships take place on Monday 5th February in Nenagh.
The Cappawhite GAA 10K/6K Fun Run/Walk takes place on Monday 5th February at 12pm, entries €10, see their Facebook page for details.
The Michal Rejmer 10 mile race is adding a new a new prize category of club and corporate mixed teams. This adds an extra level of competition and excitement to the event. Mixed teams will consist of 4 athletes to score and must have at least one female athlete. This will add an extra level of excitement and camaraderie to the race so let’s get training
and organizing teams.
It takes place on 14th April and entries are through Eventmaster. The Milford Hospice 10K takes place on Sunday 11th February at 12pm. Entries through Eventmaster.
January 1963
In that infamous winter of 1963 Frank O’Connell of Regional AC won the Limerick Junior Cross Country Championships held on the roads of Herbertstown due to a frozen course.
Limerick AC won the team title and the Charlie Davis Cup with Tournafulla AC second. Until 1968 Junior was a grade and not an age-category.
