New Lincoln City captain Paudie O'Connor I PICTURE: Lincoln City
LIMERICK man Paudie O’Connor has been appointed as club captain for Lincoln City Football Club for the 2023/24 season.
The Clarina man will take the armband for the club which competes in the EFL League One, which starts this weekend.
After more than a year with the Imps, the former Limerick FC central defender takes on the captaincy.
O'Connor has had cross-channel spells with Leeds United, Blackpool, Bradford City and now Lincoln - making over 170 senior appearances since he left Limerick in 2017.
O’Connor clocked up 53 appearances for Lincoln City in all competitions since signing in 2022 and played a vital part last season in Mark Kennedy’s side securing a top half finish last season.
Former Republic of Ireland winger, Mark Kennedy is the club's Head coach.
"He should be very proud of himself, it’s thoroughly deserved - we have a fantastic captain with Paudie wearing the armband," said Kennedy of the Limerick man's appointment.
"We’ve got lots of leaders but it was important to pick the right captain to represent the club, and Paudie is that."
