UNDER-water cameraman and filmmaker, Ken O'Sullivan, will perform his unique live show in Limerick this February.
Into The Deep outlines his incredible adventures exploring the North Atlantic Ocean - adventures that will be shared at the Lime Tree Theatre on Saturday, February 3.
The multi-award-winning Clare native will mesmerise a Limerick audience with his magical tales of encountering enormous whales and monstrous sharks.
Ken – who is also passionate about ocean conservation - will show videos and give insight and back stories into what it’s like trying to navigate the North Atlantic Ocean to find and film some of the largest animals ever to have lived, including blue and fin whales, the largest animals ever to have lived.
The Limerick audience will also hear Ken’s first-hand account of his unforgettable dive in 2016 when he was the first cameraman in the world to film and document a group of 35 thirty basking sharks engaged in a courtship ritual off the Clare coast.
The live show is a mix of film and stories from Ken’s 18-year long career. He pays homage to his family’s 250-year history on Fenit Island, Co Kerry and the ancient maritime culture.
Ken has donated his documentaries to education, where they now feature on the secondary school exam curriculum within the Junior cycle Geography and Business Studies courses.
“I’ve been passionate all my life about the ocean and I am really excited to be bringing my live tour to Limerick and to share the magic of the ocean. We have a precious natural resource on our doorstep and it is important to preserve it and to educate people about the unique marine life that exists in our waters,” he said.
He also championed ocean conservation long before mainstream broadcast documentaries covered the damage within our oceans.
He has produced and filmed seventeen documentaries, including North Atlantic – The Dark Ocean which was broadcast on RTE during the summer.
