Troy Parrot's Mam Jennifer has said "it's fate" that her son is playing in tonight's highly anticipated Ireland match against the Czech Republic as he was born in 2022, the last time Ireland qualified for the World Cup.
Speaking ahead of tonight's match, the 24-year-old's family were in high spirits albeit a bit nervous with his mother saying she had been up since 6am this morning "with the nerves", but that she had sent a message to Troy saying "good luck son" and hoped that "God will watch over you and your teammates tonight on the pitch.

The video, posted on X by @DavidSneyd, has garnered nearly 50,000 views as David expressed how great of a moment this is for Ireland fans and Troy's mother was quick to agree.
"It's brilliant," she said, "the support of the fans has just been brilliant, really great," before adding that the whole situation still doesn't seem real.
"it feels like a dream, it feels like I'm in a dream," she said, "it's not really happening, but it's happening...I try not to think too much about it," she said looking a bit nervous.
Jennifer also revealed that they could not get into any Irish bars in Prague on Wednesday due to the sheer amount of people. Despite telling the doorman they were family of 24-year-old Troy, who scored a magnificent goal in the 96th minute against Hungary back in November, clinching the win that put Ireland into the World Cup play-offs.

Troy's Granny added that she was "very proud" of her grandson as she thanked the fans for all their support.
