Reading's Paudie O'Connor, a Ballybrown native, reached 350 career appearances in his side's 3-0 win over Blackpool last weekend in the EFL League One.

Starting out for local side Kilcornan, O’Connor also appeared for Breska Rovers and Regional United before being picked up for Limerick’s U19s and moving on to the club’s senior side.

O'Connor graduated into Limerick FCs First Team ahead of the 2015 campaign. He made 16 appearances for the 'Super Blues' in the SSE Airtticity League Premier Division campaign, which would end in relegation.

However, Limerick FC bounced back the following season securing promotion in spectacular fashion, winning 24 of 28 league games and losing just once.

O'Connor, who has enjoyed a stellar career in England since his move from Limerick FC in 2017. The centre-back transferred to Leeds United from Limerick before going out on loan with Blackpool in 2018.

The 28-year-old then moved to Bradford City in 2019, where he made 115 appearances, before moving to Lincoln City in 2022 where he made a staggering 121 appearances and scoring six goals in a three-year spell.

O'Connor made the move to Reading this season where he has hit 350 career appearances.

Limerick's Dara Costelloe also reached a career milestone, with the 22-year-old making his 100th career appearance for Wigan last weekend in their 0-0 draw with Stevenage.

The highly-rated Costelloe, who attended Lisnagry NS and Castletroy College, played schoolboy football with Aisling Annacotty.

The attacker left Galway United in 2020 when he joined Vincent Kompany's Burnley before loan spells with Bradford City, St Johnstone, Dundee, Accrington Stanley and Northampton Town.

Costelloe eventually sourced a permanent move in 2025, signing for 'The Latics' where he has made nine appearances, scoring one goal.
