Two Limerick players involved in Ireland U17 for three friendlies in Hungary

Two former Holycross AFC players have been selected on the Ireland U17 team for a series of three friendlies in Hungary over the course of a week.

Cillian Murphy and Ike Manjor have been selected as part of Paul Osam's 20-player squad as they prepare for the U17s World Cup in Qatar in November. 

Both Cillian and Ike played for Holycross before making the move to fellow Munster side Cork City. 

The trio of friendlies will form part of the preparation for competitive action in October where they’ll take on Kosovo and Faroe Island in the first round of qualifiers for the 2026 U17 EUROs.

Ireland played their first of the three friendlies on Tuesday, where they drew 2-2 with Turkey.

The Boys in Green will face Iceland tomorrow before concluding their trip with a match versus hosts Hungary on Saturday. 

The Ireland U17 squad is as follows: 

Goalkeepers: Darragh Brunton (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Xander Grieves (Wolves)

Defenders: Danny Burke (Shamrock Rovers), Aidan Gabbidon (Malmö FF), Ike Manjor-Georgewill (Cork City), Sean Spaight (Dundalk), Josh O’Connor (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Tadgh Prizeman (Shamrock Rovers)

Midfielders: Curtis Egan (Bohemians), Cillian Murphy (Cork City), Tom McGrath (Cork City), Josh O’Dwyer (Shamrock Rovers), Kian Quigley (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Ryan Sheridan (St. Patrick's Athletic)

Forwards: Joe Byrne (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Josh Harpur (Bohemians), Ben Mahon (Shamrock Rovers), TJ Molloy (Dundalk), Archie Quinn (Shamrock Rovers), Joey Wuna (Shelbourne)
