MUNSTER RUGBY are facing another enormous challenge this weekend when they travel to Sandy Park in Exeter to take on the Chiefs on Sunday, December 17 at 1:00pm.
After a disappointing 17 all-draw against Bayonne in the first round of the Champions Cup last weekend, Munster need a win against Exeter Chiefs to keep their cup dreams alive.
In the dying minutes of that game, out-half Jack Crowley attempted a drop-goal with only one boot on, showing the young players confidence, but an attempt which ultimately did not reach its target.
At the Munster Rugby press conference during the week, Jack said a serious review had taken place after the Bayonne game. He continued by saying “There were two or three times that we missed scoring opportunities in key areas. We have put massive emphasis on making those scoring chances count during training this week.”
Their opposition this weekend, Exeter, has an incredible one point win against Toulon away last weekend and will be a formidable force on their home turf.
Speaking about Exeter’s win Crowley stated “Not many go to Toulon and get a win. They came back from 18-5 down at half-time and that’s probably a testament of their strength.
“They have had a lot of changes to their squad and have made it work and that’s down to Baxter being a quality coach. They are going to be a serious test for us this weekend, every game when you put on the Munster jersey is a must-win and this Exeter game is no different.”
