The late Martin Walsh
THE RUGBY world is in mourning following the death of former UL Bohemian club president Martin Walsh following a long illness. Mr Walsh was an extremely popular figure within Limerick rugby.
He was a well known rugby referee and a member of the Munster Association of Referees (MAR) and was one of the touch judge for Munster's famous win over the All Blacks in 1978.
Native of Dublin, Martin came to Limerick in the 1970's and worked in Fulflex. He was heavily involved in with Bohemian RFC before becoming club president and also served as president of the MAR.
Martin is survived by his wife Elizabeth, children Martin, Paul, AnneMarie, Barry and Caroline and was a devoted grandfather to Killian, Sarah, Shane, Amelia, Jemima, Rueben, Gigi, Olivia, Ben and Sam.
Brother of the late Eileen, Paschal and Aine. Sadly missed by his loving family, sisters Mary and Doreen and brother Fr. Bart, daughters-in-law Kerris and Samantha, sons-in-law David and Paul, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many close friends.
Martin is reposing at Thompsons Funeral Home, Thomas Street this Sunday (February 19) from 5pm to 6.30pm. Funeral arriving at St Nessan's Church, Raheen this Monday (February 20) for requiem mass at 11:30am followed by burial in St Nicholas' Cemetery, Adare. House Private. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to St Vincent de Paul.
