Council has refused permission for an old people's housing scheme in Castleconnell
LIMERICK City and County Council planners have refused permission for the development of a senior living scheme in Castleconnell.
Developers Wildeborn had sought planning permission to build the new homes designated for older people at the Coolbane estate in the village.
These would have been split into seven two-bed dwellings for three people.

Seven more of these would be two-bed four-person dwellings each with four bedrooms.
The final two new homes proposed would be designated as community dwellings each with four bedrooms, plus one carer bedroom and communal bedrooms for senior living.
But council planners rejected the proposals from the developer, claiming it would mean the replacement of a creche which was permitted on the land under a previous planning permission.
The local authority said the development would fail to follow requirements set out in Childcare Facilities guidelines.
However, in a letter to the planning authority before the decision was made, agents for the developer claimed the creche will still be built.
An appeal has now been made to An Bord Pleanala, which is expected to make a decision by March next year.
