IRISH rugby legends joined forces with some of Ireland's best rowers to try and break the 100,000m indoor rowing World Record.
Shannon Rowing Club members Kenny McDonald and Brian Collins alongside rowing royalty in Sanita Puspure helped Irish rugby hero's David Wallace, Paul Wallace and Stephan Bradshaw to break the World Record in a team effort clocking in at a time of 4hr 49mins, smashing the old record set by an Italian team in 2020 by 10 minutes.
The Irish team has raised over €20,000 for the IRFU charitable trust for injured players.
Shannon's Kenny McDonald is no stranger to beating World Records with the Limerick man now after breaking five records in total. He is also fresh from collecting an astonishing three gold medals at the World Masters Rowing Championship in Germany. It was also Brian Collin's third time breaking a World rowing record.
Speaking about the event McDonald stated: "It was a fantastic event for everyone involved. You basically rowed as hard as possible for 20 seconds and then you would jump off and the next person would take over so the time that you were rowing for you gave it your everything. You would get a break then for a number of minutes before you had to row again."
