LIMERICK'S Róisín Ní Riain is "looking forward" to coming home after her outstanding Paralympic games where she claimed a sliver and a bronze medal for Team Ireland in the pool.

The Drombanna native has been away from home for the past five weeks in preparation for the 2024 Paralympics which in turn has paid off for her becoming one of Ireland's most successful athletes at this years games.

Speaking on Morning Ireland Ní Riain stated: "I am really looking forward to getting home to Limerick on Monday. It'll be really nice to see my friends and family after being away for so long and nice to get a bit of down time as well."

Now a double Paralympian after making her debut back in 2020 at the Tokyo games Ní Riain has firmly put herself in the limelight of Irish Paralympic swimming after claiming a silver medal in the the women’s S13 100m Backstroke and a bronze in the SM13 Individual Medley, only narrowly missing out on medals in the Breaststroke and Butterfly finals.

The nineteen year-old had one of the busiest schedules of any of the Irish athletes competing in four different events in which she qualified for finals in each one, totally an incredible seven swims.

Ní Riain went on to say: "It was seven swims in total, four races, four finals and three heats with only one direct final in the 100m Backstroke. Recover was the key for me and being able to come down from the highs of winning a medal knowing that you have to get back in and swim the next day. It was all about managing my physical and mental recovery."

The Irish Paralympic Team will return home to Dublin on Monday next where the team will be welcomed in Terminal 2 after their fantastic displays in Paris.
