March 30 - Seeking information on Dr Hilda O’Malley for book

I am hoping to write a book on Dr Hilda O’ Malley. Older readers may remember her as the wife of Donogh O’Malley, Minister for Education, who died suddenly in 1968. She was the inspiration for Patrick Kavanagh’s well known poem and song, Raglan Road.

I am hoping to write a book on Dr Hilda O’ Malley. Older readers may remember her as the wife of Donogh O’Malley, Minister for Education, who died suddenly in 1968. She was the inspiration for Patrick Kavanagh’s well known poem and song, Raglan Road.

I want to focus on her years (1980s) working at St. Joseph’s Mental Hospital, Mulgrave Street.

Any stories, reflections, pertaining to those years would be very welcome. I am going through the hospital archives at this time.

If any reader remembers her, or anything about her please get in touch. She lived on Clancy Strand and died in 1991. Photographs are especially welcome. All contributions will be fully acknowledged.

I wrote, Unfulfilled Promise (2008) and I would like to fill in the gap in relation Dr. O’ Malley. My contact details are:
