The programme starts on Wednesday night

RTÉ’S Book Club is back on our screens this month as new and returning book clubs from across the country discuss some of Ireland’s most popular reads.

Starting this Wednesday, February 14 at 10.35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player, the four-part series features eleven book clubs from all over Ireland, including The Floating Baes from Limerick City, made up of three DJ friends Mona-Lxsa, Ceese and Snow.

The trio met through Limerick’s music scene and have been firm friends since. Mona and Snow introduce us to their African heritage within their reviews, while CiCi shares what it’s like juggling music and being a single mum.

Supported by Coimisiún na Meán, the new series (previously titled Page Turners) dips into conversations of book clubs around the country as they dissect a range of books, from literary classics to the latest releases and of course, some old book club favourites.

In the first episode, the clubs discuss Sarah Breen and Emer Mclysaght’s Aisling Ever After, Claire Keegan’s So Late in The Day, Elaine Feeney’s How to Build a Boat, Mark O’Connell’s A Thread of Violence and book club classic and global phenomenon, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.

Other books featured during the series include Poor by Katriona O’Sullivan, The Grass Ceiling by Eimear Ryan and 1984 by George Orwell.

Like all good book clubs, their gatherings extend beyond simple reviews, instead delving into personal connections with each book. Expect lots of laughter, disagreements and even some tears as we are invited into homes, cafes, bookshops and pubs across the country.

Links to local libraries through the series' website and engagement with local bookshops mean that viewers at home can join in on the fun by reading along.

The Book Club airs this Wednesday, February 14 at 10.35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
