Ready to rock: Chief Superintendent Derek Smart, Sergeant Karen Doherty, Lucy Pratt and John Talbot, garda staff, Sergeant Gavin McDonnell, and Superintendent Andrew Lacey
LIMERICK gardai and staff have organised a night of rhythm and (Hill Street) blues to raise money for Little Blue Heroes.
The event entitled Heroes Rock takes place this Friday, February 16 in Dolan’s Warehouse. Six bands have kindly agreed to perform free of charge - Trouble Pilgrims, The Yardarm Dawgs, Thiz Lizzy, Reverse the Hearse, The Outcast Crew and Parliament Square. Their mix of genres will suit all musical tastes.
The jury is still out on whether Chief Superintendent Derek Smart and Superintendent Andrew Lacey, who dusted off their electric guitars for a photo, will join them on stage.
Music aficionado, Professor Eoin Devereux, of University of Limerick, will MC proceedings with 100% of funds raised going directly to Little Blue Heroes. A huge range of raffle prizes have also been organised. There is a door prize of two tickets for Paolo Nutini kindly donated by Thomond Park for his July concert but you have to be in Dolan's on the night to win them. Click here to purchase tickets.

Chief Supt Smart said the event is another excellent initiative being run in support of the fantastic work of the Little Blue Heroes Foundation, which supports those who find themselves in a time of need.
Supt Lacey said the generosity of the artists, organisers and venue staff in terms of time and enthusiasm indicates how special a night this will be.
“The Little Blue Heroes Foundation does inspiring work to help families of children with serious illnesses in Ireland and they rely heavily on events such as next Friday to provide life altering supports.
“Having six quality bands all play in the one venue is fantastic and a treat for all rock or music enthusiasts. Please get out and support this event and bring a smile to our young honorary gardaí. Tickets are now available for purchase on Dolan’s website,” said Supt Lucey.

Inspector Noel Barry said garda members and garda staff in Limerick have witnessed first-hand the work of Little Blue Heroes Foundation, and the impact it has on the lives of serious ill children and their families.
“The foundation not only provides financial support to families, it also provides a unique relief and distraction to these children in the form of a close relationship with An Garda Síochána and their assigned garda buddies. This gig is our way of raising awareness and some vital funds for Little Blue Heroes Foundation. We hope people get on board for a great charity and a great night out,” said Insp Barry.
Garda staff John Talbot, who has been instrumental in putting the night together, said the gig showcases some of the best musical talent Ireland has to offer.
“Each band has kindly volunteered their time and talent, as have Dolans Warehouse in support of Little Blue Heroes Foundation. With six bands over the course of the evening, there is something for everyone. With amazing raffle prizes throughout the evening, this will be a night to remember for years to come,” said Mr Talbot.
