Over €2 million worth of drugs from Spain and Thailand seized at Dublin Airport

As a result of two operations at Dublin Airport last week, Revenue Officers made a seizures of drugs with an estimated value of approximately €2,307,000.

On November 20, as a result of routine profiling, Revenue Officers searched a package and discovered 0.8kgs of Crystal Methamphetamine.

The drugs, valued at approximately €48,000, were concealed within boxes of soup and labelled as “Food”. They had been consigned from Spain and were destined for an address in Dublin.

On November 23 a seizure of 112.95kgs of herbal cannabis was made following an indication from Revenue drug detector dog Maggie. The cannabis was wrapped in vacuum packed packages and was concealed in metal boxes labelled as “Electric Box”.

The cannabis, valued at approximately €2,259,000 originated in Thailand and was destined for an address in Northern Ireland.

Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
