RIP: 'Awful tragedy'- Tributes paid to young man who died tragically in Dundalk crash

Tributes have poured for a young man who tragically died following a horror car collision which occurred on Saturday last.

Shay Duffy was among one of five young people who lost their lives amid the fatal car crash on the L3168 in the townland of Gibstown at around 9pm on Saturday last.

Shay was from Mullyore, Carrickmacross in Monaghan

His RIP.ie notice says: "Shay, forever loved and missed beyond words by his heartbroken family; his parents Raymond & Carmel, his adored brothers Vinnie & Ben, his girlfriend Zara, his granny Marion & granny Philomena, his uncles & aunts; Brendan, David, Colette, Aileen & Pauline and Matthew, Mary, Angeline, Teresa & Helen, his cousins, extended family, his many wonderful friends, neighbours, the entire community & beyond".

Countless messages have poured in for the young man and his family on RIP.ie, with one person writing,

"Heartfelt condolences to Shay's parents, brothers, girlfriend and extended family on the tragic passing of your beloved Shay. This awful tragedy has touched the hearts of the Irish nation. Rip Shay".

Another message said, "Deepest sympathy to Shay's family and friends. Every parent in Ireland and beyond is holding you in their hearts today and in the coming days. May all of our prayers comfort you. Rest in peace lovely boy".

A mother from Longford said: "My heart breaks for you all. Your beautiful son gone too son. May god watch over you all and strengthen you in days weeks months ahead. .may your beautiful son Shay watch over you always".
