A man is being questioned by gardai following a fatal stabbing in Cork city in the early hours of this Sunday morning.
Gardaí say they were alerted to an incident at a house at Hollyville, Hollyhill at around 4.30am and that having arrived at the scene a short time later, they discovered a man who had sustained serious injuries.
While gardai have not commented on the man's injuries, it's understood they were consistent with him having been stabbed.
"Shortly after 4.30am, Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following reports of a disturbance involving two individuals at Hollyville, Hollyhill, Cork City. A male aged in his 30s was conveyed to Cork University Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course," said a garda spokesperson.

An investigation was immediately launched and a man, aged in his mid-50s, was subsequently arrested. He's currently being detained at a garda station in Cork under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and a family liaison officer has also been appointed by gardai to support the family of the deceased.
An incident room has been established at Gurranabraher Garda Station in Cork and the house where the incident happened has been sealed off and will be the subject of technical and forensic examinations.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with video footage of the incident to come forward.
