Investigation launched after young man found naked and beaten near Donegal border

Gardaí were alerted by a member of a public who raised the alarm about the assaulted and distressed man

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man in his 20s with injuries on a roadside in Bridgend, county Donegal.

It's understood the young man was beaten, stripped naked, and left by the roadside close to the border with Derry at Bonemaine.

He was subsequently taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for the treatment of his injuries.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed they received a report of a male with injuries on the road between Bridgend and Killea on Wednesday October 1.

A spokesperson for the Gardaí said:

“At approximately 8.20pm, Gardaí received a report of a male with injuries on the road at Bridgend.

“The man, aged in his 20s, was subsequently brought to Letterkenny University Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

“Anyone who was in the area of Killea, Manorstown Cross and Bridgend between 7pm and 9pm and has video camera footage (including dash-cam), is asked to make it available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
