Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward
Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault that occurred in Connaught Gardens, Athlone, county Westmeath on Friday morning, September 12, 2025, shortly after 11:00am.
A woman, aged in her 30s, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore for treatment of serious injuries.

A man, aged in his 60s, was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Westmeath. He has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Anyone who was in the area of Connaught Gardens, Corpus Christi Church, Athlone, county Westmeath on Friday September 12, 2025, between 10:45am and 11:30am is asked to contact An Garda Síochána.
