Gardai have arrested a man in Galway after responding to a incident involving an array of weapons.
Garda officers attended the scene on River Street, Ballinasloe at 8:40am on Monday morning, September 8 as a man was reported to be brandishing a weapon.
Upon arriving at the scene, the gardai also searched a car where they recovered a number of items including a machete, a hatchet and a knife. The car and the weapons were seized.

A Garda spokesperson has said "a man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice act 1984.
Investigations by gardai surrounding the incident are still currently ongoing.
