A man has been seriously injured after being hit by an SUV in Co Monaghan.
The pedestrian, aged in his 50s, was struck by the vehicle on Broad Road shortly before 1am on Saturday.
He was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
The scene has been preserved and local traffic diversions are in place pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses or those with dash-cam footage to come forward.
