Motorist gets caught red handed for offence Gardaí say happens 'on a regular basis'

Gardaí caught a motorist red handed this week doing something they say happens "on a regular basis".

On patrol in Roscommon on Wednesday, An Garda Síochána spotted a parked car in a loading bay, blocking the delivery driver from accessing entry which resulted in significant traffic congestion.

In a post on X, Gardaí said,

"Gardai from the Roscommon Roads Policing Unit observed this car, parked in a loading bay today, denying the delivery truck access resulting in significant congestion. Driver of car has received a fine. Regrettably we see this incident on a regular basis."

The driver subsequently received a fine with Gardaí hoping this measure will deter other motorists from causing the same offence.

Earlier this week, Gardaí in Tipperary were carrying out road patrols when they spotted "occupants of a vehicle acting suspiciously in Thurles".

The vehicle then failed to stop for Gardaí and carried out dangerous driving offences.

The vehicle eventually ran out of road and the "occupants were apprehended following a foot pursuit".

The driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving following a failed roadside drug test.

Gardaí added: "We seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and cannabis, and the vehicle was seized as the driver had no insurance or driving licence.

"Investigations are ongoing."
