Gardaí nab learner motorcyclist missing essential item for doing double the speed limit

An Irish learner motorcyclist has been caught travelling at more than double the speed limit over the Bank Holiday weekend.

In a post on social media, gardaí said the driver was stopped in Dublin 15 after being clocked at a whopping 129km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Upon further inspection, it was also found that the motorcyclist was a learner permit holder who was not displaying an L tabard - a legal requirement for learner motorcyclists on Irish roads.

"This motorcyclist was stopped yesterday in Dublin 15 after being detected travelling at a speed of 129km/hr in a 60km/hr zone," the post began.

"The motorcyclist was a learner driver and did not have an L Tabard displayed."
