Teenager dies and another injured in tractor crash in Co Leitrim

A teenager has died and another was taken to hospital after a tractor crashed in Co Leitrim.

The single-vehicle collision took place on R204 at Aghavilla, Carrigallen, at around 3.10pm on Tuesday.

A male aged in his late teens, who was a passenger on the tractor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male aged in his late teens, who was driving the tractor, was taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The road has been closed pending a technical examination by forensic investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who have any footage and were travelling in the area between 2.30pm and 3.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
