Gardaí renew appeal for witnesses as man found in Grand Canal identified

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses who were in the area between the 12th Lock, Lucan and Hazelhatch Bridge, Co. Dublin between March 6 and March 8

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses following the discovery of the body of an unidentified male in the Grand Canal at Coolscuddan, Newcastle, Co. Dublin on Saturday morning, March 8, 2025.

The man, aged in his 20’s, has since been identified. Gardaí wish to thank the public for their assistance to date.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area of the Grand Canal, particularly those who were walking or cycling, between the 12th Lock, Lucan and Hazelhatch Bridge, Co. Dublin between Thursday, March 6 and Saturday, March 8, 2025 to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, are asked to make this available to Gardaí.
