Staff at a retail premises in Dublin were threatened at knife-point during the violent incident
Gardai have confirmed what are being described as 'less than lethal force' options were used to detain a man who is suspected of carrying out an armed robbery, this Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí have arrested a man, aged in his 30s, following a robbery in the Ballymun area of Dublin.
"Shortly before 2.30 pm, gardaí responded to reports of a robbery at a retail premises on Marewood Crescent, Ballymun. A man entered the store brandishing a knife, threatened staff and removed property before leaving on foot," said a spokesperson.

"In a follow-up operation involving local uniformed and armed gardaí from Ballymun station, supported by the Armed Support Unit, a man in his 30s was arrested in the Sandyhill Gardens area," added the spokesperson.
The man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a garda station in the Dublin Region in connection with this incident and a number of similar robberies in recent days.
The spokesperson confirmed that 'less than lethal force options' were deployed by gardaí in the arrest of the individual.
The specific nature of the force used to effect the arrest has not been disclosed publicly.
