Gardai have launched an investigation following the death of a young man in a late-night road collision in County Meath.
Confirming the fatality, they say they are currently at the scene of the fatal collision which occurred at Oldcastle in the early hours of this Tuesday.
"At approximately 2.20am, gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision involving a single vehicle at Boolies, Oldcastle, County Meath. The sole occupant of the car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later," said a spokesperson.
Motorists are being advised that the road is currently closed with local diversions in place pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward and any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available.

Investigations are ongoing and a file will be forwarded to the local coroner.
