The National Lottery has confirmed the store which sold the first winning Lotto ticket of 2025.

A player in County Louth has become Ireland’s newest multi-millionaire after winning the €4,642,646 jackpot prize in the Wednesday, January 29, draw.

This is the first Lotto Jackpot win of 2025 and the second top tier prize to be won in Drogheda this week, as the thrilling news comes hot on the heels of Tuesday's EuroMillions Plus win, where another Louth player snagged the top prize of €500,000.

In an update, the National Lottery has confirmed the Lotto jackpot winning ticket was sold at Centra, Platin Road, Drogheda, County Louth.

Reacting to the news, shop owner, William Daly, said: My wife, Bernie and I, are thrilled with today’s announcement as the latest store to sell a winning Lotto Jackpot ticket and to have sold the first Lotto jackpot win of 2025. This is our first time ever selling a winning ticket, we are over the moon to have done so.

"I’d like to thank the amazing team in our store for their dedication and hard work, serving our loyal customers in our community here in Drogheda. We have a lot of regular customers, so it’s great to think that one of them may have won a life-changing prize. We wish the very best for the winner and may it bring them every happiness and success in the future. It’s a well-deserved lift for the community here in Drogheda!

Emma Monaghan, spokesperson for the National Lottery said: “Oh my goodness – what a week it’s been for Co. Louth! Not one, but two top prizes sold in the county this week. This is absolutely phenomenal! In total, over 63,000 players won prizes in the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws, including our first Lotto jackpot winner of the year. We are beyond thrilled and can’t wait to see the joy this brings to our jackpot winner!”

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total, more than €6.5 billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 37 years ago.

In 2023 alone, €227.9 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
