A elderly woman who was struck by a car while walking in Buncrana, County Donegal last week has died in hospital, gardai have confirmed.
Aged in her 80s, the woman was one of two pedestrians who were struck by a car at St Oran’s Road in the town on January 14. The collision happened between Lower Main Street and the St Mary’s Road junction, at around 2.20pm on Tuesday, January 14.
"One of the pedestrians, the woman who was seriously injured in the collision, passed away at Letterkenny University Hospital (on Sunday). The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged," said a garda spokesperson.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing and they have renewed their appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
"Road users who were travelling on Main Street, Buncrana, between 2pm and 3pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, are urged to contact gardaí if they have any information or dash-cam footage," said a spokesperson.
