Viewers of the latest episode of RTÉ's Room to Improve had a lot to say on X/Twitter over the weekend.

The episode featured a young family living in Palmerstown, Dublin who are trying to make the most of the space they have in their cramped home.

The current housing crisis was not far from many viewers' minds as they were shocked to hear the budget to renovate the home was almost as much as it cost the family to buy the house five years ago.

One person posted: "A budget of €325k but they only paid €405k for the house just 5 years ago… #roomtoimprove"

Another said: "Watching this in a housing crisis is like watching a cooking show during the famine #roomtoimprove "

Another post said: "Dermot: How much is the budget? Home owner: 20 million. Dermot: gosh, that's a bit tight."

One person remarked: "326,000€ budget and they couldn’t even finish the whole gaff? #roomtoimprove"
