Gardaí in Limerick city have launched an investigation following a shooting incident in a built-up residential area, close to the city centre.
They have confirmed that a firearm was discharged in the Ballinacurra Weston area at around 6:30pm on Monday.
No injuries have been reported at this time.

Residents in the area have said the scene has been cordoned off and that gardaí remain present at the scene, this Tuesday morning.
“Investigations are ongoing”, a garda spokesperson confirmed.
