Two friends have rallied to raise funds for the family of a child recently diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Kildare parents Ciera and Neil recieved the devastating news earlier this week that nine-month-old Erin had been diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The tumour was originally thought to be benign, but further tests found that it was an "aggressive cancer", according to Ciera's brother Ronan.
"She has had surgery but unfortunately it wasn't successful, and she is in an induced coma till her next surgery on Friday to try and remove the rest of the tumour," Ronan revealed in a post online.
Ciera's friends Sarah and Karen have set up a fundraiser since the heartbreaking news, aiming to relieve some financial pressure during Erin's recovery while the parents take time off work.
"The purpose of this page is to help Ciera and Neil navigate the next few months and relieve them of some financial pressures," the friends explained in the online fundraiser.
"We appreciate any help at all you can provide for them and we will keep you updated on Erin’s progress. Thank you for your support and please keep Erin in your thoughts on her recovery".
Erin returned to Temple Street in Dublin on Friday for an operation to remove the remaining tumour.
According to Sarah and Karen, the 'little warrior' is doing "just amazing and breathing all by herself already".
