Gardaí investigating a fatal assault on a man on in the Dublin 11 area on Thursday have charged a man aged in his 30s.

The man was arrested on Thursday, June 20, after gardaí were alerted to a man with serious injuries at Hampton Wood Way on St Margaret’s Road in Finglas.

The injured man, aged in his 50s, was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The man in his 30s was arrested as part of the investigation and was detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He has now been charged and will appear before the CCJ Dublin Saturday morning, June 22.

A post mortem of the deceased, a man in his 50s, has been completed by the State Pathologist.

The results of the post mortem will not be released for operational reasons, and the investigation is ongoing.
