Gardaí call out drivers who post crash images on social media

Gardaí have called out drivers who post crash scenes on social media, following a collision in Co Louth.

Gardaí in Louth attended a collision involving a HGV, which occurred along the M1 last week.

While at the scene, they noticed that three drivers were "rubbernecking and recording with their phones".

The driver of the van involved in the incident and the other two were fined for the dangerous offence.

"Road traffic collisions involve real people that have a right to dignity. Recording the scene of a collision for use on social media is not helpful to any one involved, including those working in emergency services whose job is difficult enough as it is," said An Garda Siochana on X, formerly known as Twitter.
