Numerous Spanish holiday destinations have begun to reintroduce mask-wearing while in hospital settings due to the current Covid-19 situation in the country.
Regions like Valencia have started to re-introduce mask wearing in certain settings as cases of the virus rise.
Health authorities have reported that hospitals are becoming overloaded, with patients left waiting hours for treatment or lying in corridors.
While an official announcement regarding the return of mask-wearing, in regions such as Valencia, where the famous sunspot Benidorm is located, mask-wearing has been brought back in some settings.
Healthcare authorities have implemented the mandatory use of masks in health centres to try and dampen the rise in respiratory infections to help protect vulnerable people.
Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs issued a post on its website detailing the public health requirements in place upon arrival in Spain.
The post stated “Restrictions in Spain vary depending on the region. The wearing of a mask is mandatory in all parts of Spain when in pharmacies and other healthcare settings.”
