A NOT-FOR-PROFIT Limerick group are hoping to bring a slice of the creativity of the Greenwich Village folk scene to the city.

A cosy city venue - The Tavern - on Upper William Street, is introducing the Tavern Sessions with the first gig on March 22 at 6pm.

Headlined by singer songwriter Eoin Ryan, he will be joined by The Caterers, Jake Flynn and Sea Oh When.

Eoin Ryan is a folk and emo songwriter who has cultivated a strong local following.

He has seen success with the band Bitcrush who recently featured in a documentary celebrating the legacy of The Cranberries.

His original songs have been described as “powerful and emotionally resonant.”

Limerick-based group The Caterers will also perform.

They are an all-woman group featuring Isabelle, Naima and Kayla.

They will perform music from each of their personal solo catalogues, as well as original material.

Bob Dylan inspired folk troubadour Jake Flynn will also perform a mixture of originals and covers.

Jake established himself with performances in venues such as Melody and The Record Room.

Galway-based band Sea Oh When will also perform on the night.

This will be the band's first performance in Limerick in over a year.

Conlaed Ó Cearbhalláin and Conor Nash will perform their indie-pop inspired songs.

The Tavern Sessions have been organised by two Limerick musicians and a filmmaker, inspired by the New York music scene.

Entry into the gig on March 22 at 6pm is free.
