THE REDEMPTORIST Centre of Music (RCM) has announced its recruitment campaign for the award-winning RCM Concert Band.

The RCM is a music centre in the heart of Limerick city on Island Road and is “dedicated to the provision of musical education and performance in Limerick.”

Beginning September 2025, new members “of all ages and abilities” are invited to join its concert band.

No prior musical experience is required and an instrument is provided as part of the weekly fee.

The programme offers tuition at €5 per week on a broad range of instruments, including flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and drums.

The programme is open to individuals aged eight and above, and adult classes are available.

An open evening will be held on Wednesday, September 10 at 7pm in the centre on Island Road.

The open evening aims to provide an opportunity for prospective students and their families to meet the instructors, see and hear the instruments in action, and try them out for themselves.

Attendance is by RSVP via email to redscentreofmusic@gmail.com.

“Membership of the RCM Concert Band represents more than learning an instrument; it is an opportunity to become part of a vibrant musical community, cultivate lifelong friendships, and experience the joy of performance,” a spokesperson for the RCM said.

The RCM was established to provide “high-quality musical tuition for individuals of all ages”.

“The RCM offers a comprehensive programme of instruction in a supportive and inclusive environment,” the spokesperson continued, adding that the concert band has “a history of excellence, performing at numerous local and national events, and nurturing musicians from beginners to advanced players”.

The ensemble is “committed to fostering musical excellence and community engagement”.

This initiative is supported by Music Network’s Music Capital Scheme, funded by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, with additional support from The Arts Council.
