MUNSTER rugby star Craig Casey is hoping that his sides battling URC display in South Africa on Saturday will help lift the mood in the province in the wake of last week's news that staff were told a Voluntary Redundancy Programme was being initiated by the province in the wake of economic pressures.
“It was a tough week on and off the pitch for Munster, accepted Casey, who captained Munster in the 34-31 loss to the Bulls in Pretoria.
“We dug deep on Sunday when we reviewed the Sharks and we wanted a reaction. Some stuff happened off the field with Munster during the week and we wanted to lift them and I hope we saw that in our fight - we never went away and that was for them and for our families at home and the fans who have stuck with us.

Munster sit in seventh position in the URC table with four games to play.
But attention now turns to Saturday's Challenge Cup tie away to Exeter.
“It has been tough but I hope you saw our fight there - we were never going to go away. Its disappointing but with the two points, we can kick on from here for the rest of the season and drive on,” said Casey to TV viewers after the battling loss to the Bulls, which yielded two bonus points.
“We got to take two points here and drive on - we can’t just leave that go for nothing,” he stressed.
Calvin Nash and Diarmuid Barron were both forced off injured on Saturday and will be assessed when Munster return from South Africa to Limerick tomorrow.
