A DRIVER doing over 80km/h over the speed limit on a Limerick motorway has been arrested and is now facing court.
Gardaí caught a motorist travelling at 202km/h in a 120km/h zone in Limerick while on a traffic check on motorways around the county on Tuesday morning, January 14.
The driver also subsequently failed a drug test after a blood sample was taken during arrest and sent for analysis.
"Our Roads Policing members were on duty this morning in our newest addition to the AGS Limerick fleet, our VW Golf GTI, when they came across this vehicle travelling at 202km/h in a 120km/h speed zone," gardaí confirmed.

"This is more than a fine and penalty points for speeding. This is a charge of dangerous driving and has led to a court appearance.
"The driver was also subject to a roadside drug test, which they failed.
"The driver was arrested and a court appearance will now follow in relation to dangerous driving and pending the results of the sample taken, the possibility of further charges."
