Motorists who use the Limerick Tunnel are being advised of overnight restrictions and likely delays this Thursday night due to line renewal works.

While the main tunnel will remain open, the southbound carriageway of the N18 will be closed from its junction with the Dock Road in Limerick from 7.30pm.

Traffic travelling from via the Limerick Tunnel from the Caherdavin/Clare side will be diverted at junction 2 and will travel to the Rosbrien Interchange (M7/M20) via Fr Russell Road, St Nessan’s Road and Childers Road.

The line renewal works will be carried out overnight and the N18 will fully re-open at 6am on Friday.

Because of separate works which are ongoing on the M20 (Limerick to Cork motorway) motorists are being advised to familiarise themselves with the diversion routes.

As of now, it is planned that the eastbound carriageway of the M20, between junction 3 (Raheen) and junction 1 (Clare/Galway) will be closed on Thursday night as will junction 2 (Dooradoyle) of the westbound carriageway.

Motorists from Clare who intend using the Limerick Tunnel on Thursday night should allow extra time due to likely delays because of the diversions.
