Man arrested after fleeing from scene of Limerick collision
A MAN who fled from a vehicle that was upside down in a ditch following a collision was quickly apprehended by gardai, Limerick Live has learned.
A garda spokesperson said officers attended the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on Bloodmill Road, Limerick at approximately 11.25pm on Thursday, January 26.
"There were no injuries reported. The driver of the vehicle, a male in his 50s, was arrested a short time later and conveyed to Henry Street Garda station.
"He has since been released and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Investigations are ongoing," said the garda spokesperson.
One motorist who came upon the scene told Limerick Live there was a van upside down in a ditch.
"Then a middle-aged man somehow managed to free himself and did a runner. In fairness to the guards they chased him and quickly caught him," said the eye witness.
