AN AMERICAN descendant of the Bard of Thomond is waving the Limerick and Munster flags with pride at the U20 World Lacrosse Championships.
Talented Lacrosse player Liam Hogan is so proud of his Irish roots that he set a goal in high school of representing Ireland.

That dream came true for Liam and his proud family in South Korea this month. Ireland finished in ninth place ahead of the likes of Germany and China.

Grandfather Peter Hogan, a generous benefactor to many local organisations in the city, commissioned the statue to his ancestor, the Bard of Thomond Michael Hogan. The prolific 19th century poet was born in Thomondgate in 1832
A plaque in honour of Peter Hogan is located yards away from the statue in the Bishop’s Palace in King’s Island. It is the location of the Bard of Thomond’s most famous work: Drunken Thady and the Bishop’s Lady.
