GARDAÍ have this afternoon confirmed that they are investigating the reported discharge of a firearm at a house in Kilmallock in County Limerick.

The incident is alleged to have happened in Kilmallock on Friday last (September 13, 2024).

A garda spokesperson told Limerick Live: "No persons were in the building at the reported time of the incident, and no injuries have been reported at this time."

They added: "The scene was preserved and a technical examination has been carried out."

Locals in Charleville and Kilmallock have told Limerick Live there is a heightened garda presence in both towns, with foot patrols, members of the armed support unit and vehicle patrols.

Videos of a group of people wearing balaclavas and holding what look like guns, as well as a video of people starting a fire at a house in an estate in Charleville, have been widely circulated across social media and on messenger chat apps.
