THE LIMERICK Gospel Choir is on the lookout for a “talented and passionate” musical director to lead their troupe.

Celebrating its 21st year, the mixed voice choir is made up of around 40 members from all parts of the city and county.

Candidates should have experience directing gospel or choir groups, a strong musical background, and the ability to arrange music and lead rehearsals and performances with enthusiasm and creativity.

They should also have excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to play piano is “desirable but not essential”.

The new musical director will need to be available for weekly rehearsals on Tuesdays at 7-9pm, as well as for masses, gigs and events where the choir performs.

Beginning in September this year, the choir hopes this paid position will go to someone with a “passion for spreading joy and positivity through music”.

"We are excited to find a new Musical Director who shares our enthusiasm for creating memorable and engaging performances," a representative from the choir said. "Our hope is to continue spreading joy and positivity through music, and we believe the right candidate will help us achieve that goal."

Candidates interested in applying for the position are encouraged to contact Tríona on 087 285 3777 or email limerickgospelchoir@gmail.com for more information on requirements and application details.

The closing date for applications is August 30.
