THE web site of a city centre college in Limerick has been hacked by those purporting to represent Islamic State in Syria (Isis).

The home page of Central College Limerick - which has since been taken down - carried the message last night: “This website has been hacked by the Islamic State in Syria (ISIS)...Ireland expect us.”

There is also a photograph of a terrorist holding an Isis flag.

The apparent hacking has affected the website of Central College Limerick, whose campus is based at Sexton Street in the city.

The website has now been taken down and management are understood to be seeking information about the incident. The college was unavailable for comment.
