Gardai in Kilrush are investigating the incident
A MAN has been arrested and charged following a fatal road collision in County Clare.
Gardaí have confirmed they are investigating the incident - involving a car and a motorcycle - that occurred at approximately 10.30am on Thursday on the N67 at Ballyvaughan - in the west of the county.
"The motorcyclist, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries to persons was reported", confirmed a garda spokesperson who added that a technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators has been completed.
Gardai say a man, aged in his 40s, was arrested as part of this investigation and detained at a garda station in County Clare.
He has since been charged and is due to appear before Ennis District Court later this Friday.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling on the N67 at Ballyvaughan between 10am and 10.45am on Thursday asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
