A NEW BOOK hopes to assist Christian leaders to “establish a personal rule of life.”
Written by the Rev Canon Elizabeth Beasley, It’s Not About You: Paradoxes of Christian leadership, the book on Christian ministry will be launched at St Mary’s Cathedral, on Bridge Street on June 1.
According to the author, the book is for “anyone who wants insight into the way of life of clergy and other Christian leaders.”
The book is also specifically for clergy, people preparing for ordination, and anyone else with a major leadership role in the church.
With exercises and reflection questions that focus on the tasks of ministry and the complexities the minister will confront.
It’s Not About You: Paradoxes of Christian leadership has been described as “a trail guide to Christian living for those who want to lead the way.”
According to Canon Beasley, the tool that ministers have is who they are, but they must remember that in ministry, “it's not about you.”
For more than eight years, Canon Beasley was the rector of the Adare Group of Parishes in the Diocese of Tuam, Limerick and Killaloe in the Church of Ireland.
She continues to serve as the Diocesan Director of Ordinands.
She is also an Honorary Canon for life at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Honolulu, Hawaii, in recognition of her work with those preparing for ministry.
Ms Beasley holds theological degrees from Harvard Divinity School and Sewanee, The University of the South.
The book launch is open to all and will start at 7pm this Thursday at the St Mary's Cathedral in Limerick.
