Met Éireann warns of sleet and snow in Limerick as weather warning comes into effect

MOTORISTS and road users in Limerick are being advised to exercise vigilance if travelling overnight as temperatures are forecast to plummet.

Met Éireann has updated a Status Yellow Ice warning which was issued on Sunday afternoon.

"Hazardous conditions due to freezing temperatures including icy stretches on roads and paths. Sleet or snow flurries in Munster overnight," states the warning which is now in place and which remains valid until 10am on Tuesday.

According to the Met Éireann website, it will be cold on Monday night with lowest temperatures of 0 to -2 degrees leading to a widespread frost by Tuesday morning with icy stretches.

It will be cold again on Tuesday but dry with some sunny spells. Highest temperatures will range just 4 or 5 degrees with light to moderate northerly winds.
