LIMERICK Primary Care Child and Family Psychology Service and Hospital Family Research Centre will be hosting a series of parenting skills workshops over the coming months tackling various issues when raising a child today.

The workshops, overseen by the HSE, aim to assist and bolster Limerick parents' skills by using information from childcare and mental health specialists alike.

The first in the series will take place on Thursday, February 23 from 10-11:30am and will cover skills on how to handle bullying and cyberbullying as a parent.

A Parent Support Clinic will take place after each workshop where a HSE psychologist will provide a 45 minute consultation for parents with queries regarding the topic of the respective workshop. These will be limited to those who attended the workshop.

The workshops will operate on a monthly basis but with the final two taking place in June.

Cyberbullying especially, has become a problem rife with children and adolescents around the country, and has tragically taken or affected many young lives.

The other workshops will target other important topics such as body image, anxiety and building resilience and each will provide its own set of valuable knowledge and skills.
