A WINNING syndicate from Limerick has officially come forward and claimed a mega Lotto jackpot of more that €11million, the National Lottery has confirmed.
Wishing to remain anonymous, members of the syndicate say they are looking forward to spending their new found fortunes, which they plan to be “very sensible” with.
The €11.1million jackpot was won from the sale of a Quick Pick ticket in Foynes, County Limerick in early January.
While the ticket holders made contact with the National Lottery in the days after the draw, the prize was claimed nearly two weeks after they received the life-changing news.
A representative of the winning syndicate said: “It’s been hard for us to get our heads around the fact that we have won a prize as big as this. We didn’t believe it at all – we must have checked the numbers on the ticket a hundred times.”
“The first couple of days, we were all dealing with the shock of it, but we’ve gotten our heads together and started to make our own plans for the money and I think we will all be very sensible when it comes to spending it - we are all at different stages of our lives,” they added in a statement which has been released by the National Lottery.
Kelly’s Costcutter in Foynes, which sold the all important ticket is run locally by Trisha and Eoin Kelly, a sibling duo from the town.
